Paige Josephine templeton

Technology is rad. Creating entire mini universes that live on screens, universes that help humans have a better life, is the most beautiful job I could ask for. User experience, meshing creativity and structure and psychology, is what makes my heart beat. If only there were enough days in the week to keep up with every Techcrunch, Medium, and Forbes article!

Biography

Hello and welcome to my little corner of the internet! My name is Paige and I am a UX designer based out of Chicago, IL. I’m originally from Detroit (Go Red Wings!) and have lived throughout multiple large cities in the U.S. since my high school graduation. Outside of work I’m usually at the hockey rink or baking nutella babka.

How did I end up working in UX? I’m so glad you asked! From the time I was a little girl I knew I was a creative. You would find me scrapbooking or sewing or doodling across all of my history notes. (Sorry Mrs. Bontomasi!)

User testing is my most favorite part of being a designer. There is something so magical about sitting with a user and allowing them space to be heard and feel like they are a part of the product, not just a consumer. Building these connections cultivates not only a better product but also engaged users.

While I do design the full product lifestyle, my sweet spot is in the lo-fi and ideation stages. I love working through the IA of products/sites and doing that initial breakdown of what different interactions can be like.

I am also very passionate about design systems and ADA Accessibility.

Design systems are vital for designers to create a consistent product, vital for users to have a consistent experience, and vital for PO’s/PM’s to be able to better gauge how expensive something may be because you can more easily know what new custom things need to be built.

Whether it is color blindness, complete blindness, restricted motion, or any of the other many disabilities out there, we have to work harder to make sure the things we put out into the internet are accessible. More and more people need the internet to complete just basic daily activities and we as designers and developers are the gatekeepers to their success.
